FAQ ยท 12 answers
Straight answers, no marketing.
Licensing, GAMSTOP, withdrawal delays, verification and how this publication pays for itself. If your question is not here, the desk will answer it.
Is StoneReview a gambling operator?
No. We are an editorial publication. We do not accept deposits, hold funds, run any form of wagering, or process any transaction. When you follow a link from one of our reviews you leave this website and arrive at a brand operated by a company licensed by the UK Gambling Commission. Your account, your money and your data are held by that licensed operator, not by us.
How do you make money, and does it change what you write?
Some outbound links to reviewed brands are commercial. If you open an account after following one, the operator may pay us a commission at no extra cost to you. That funding pays for the desk. It does not buy a score, a ranking position or a favourable sentence, and no brand sees a review before it is published. Our full arrangement is set out on the Disclosure page.
How do I check a UK licence for myself?
Search the Gambling Commission public register at gamblingcommission.gov.uk. Look up the operator name or the account number and confirm that the exact domain you are about to use is listed, and that the relevant activity shows as Active. Every brand we cover carries its account number, operating licence number and a direct register link on its review page so you can verify our claims rather than trust them.
What does "White Label" mean on the public register?
It means the brand is a front end operated under another company's licence. Both brands we cover are White Label domains under ProgressPlay Limited, account 39335, licence 039335-R-319313-020. The arrangement is normal and openly published. The practical points are that the licensee holds your funds and answers complaints, and that a self-exclusion applies across every brand on that licence at once.
Why is my withdrawal taking longer than my deposit?
Almost always because identity verification has not been completed. UK-licensed operators are required to confirm who you are and, where relevant, that funds are affordable, before releasing a payout. Upload photo identification and a recent proof of address on the day you register rather than the day you want to withdraw, and most of the delay disappears.
Can I use a credit card?
No. Credit card gambling has been prohibited across Great Britain since April 2020. Any UK-licensed brand refusing your credit card is complying with the law, not obstructing you. Debit cards and e-wallets are the normal routes.
What is GAMSTOP and does it cover both brands you review?
GAMSTOP is the free national self-exclusion scheme for Great Britain. One registration blocks you from every online operator licensed by the Gambling Commission for the period you choose - six months, one year or five years. Because both brands we cover sit on the same licence, an exclusion closes both at the same time. Register at gamstop.co.uk.
How do you score a brand?
Six weighted criteria: licensing transparency, withdrawal experience, bonus small print, customer support, safer-gambling tooling, and one category-specific measure such as mobile behaviour or live-dealer range. Each is scored out of ten from checks we carry out ourselves. The method is published in full on the How We Review page.
How often are reviews updated?
Licence details are re-checked against the public register at least quarterly and immediately after any change we are made aware of. Withdrawal timings, support responsiveness and promotional terms are re-tested when we revisit a brand. Every review carries the date it was last checked.
I think something on this website is wrong. What now?
Tell us. Use the contact form and, if you can, include the page and the specific claim. We correct factual errors quickly and we say on the page when a correction has been made. We would rather be corrected than be quietly wrong.
Do you host comments, forums or user submissions?
No. StoneReview carries no user-generated content of any kind - no comments, no forums, no uploads, no ratings from readers. Everything published here is written and checked by our own editorial desk.
What is the minimum age?
Eighteen. Gambling is restricted to adults aged 18 or over in the United Kingdom. This publication is intended only for adults, and no part of it is directed at anyone under 18. Free confidential support is available from BeGambleAware on 0808 8020 133.
Still stuck?
Send it to the desk and we will answer, usually within five working days. If the answer turns out to be useful to other readers, it ends up on this page. Contact us.
